現在進行形（present continuous）は「be 動詞（am / is / are）＋ 動詞の -ing」で表し、今まさに起きている動作や、一時的に続いている状況を示します。TOEIC Part 1（写真描写）や Part 5・6 で頻出し、現在形（習慣）との対比で出題されます。now・at the moment などの目印を押さえることが得点の鍵です。
基本形は「主語 ＋ am / is / are ＋ 動詞の -ing」。am は I、is は三人称単数、are は you/we/they と複数名詞に使います。
-ing の付け方：e で終わる語は e を取る（make → making）、1音節で「子音＋母音＋子音」の語は最後の子音を重ねる（run → running, plan → planning）。

現在進行形の目印は now, right now, at the moment, currently, today, this week、そして Look! / Listen! です。これらがあれば「am/is/are ＋ -ing」を選びます。決まった予定を表すときにも使えます（is meeting the client tomorrow）。
注意：know, understand, believe, want, need, like, own など「状態」を表す動詞は通常進行形にしません。now があっても現在形を使います（She wants a promotion。is wanting は誤り）。

now, at the moment, currently があれば進行形、every day, usually, always があれば現在形です。また状態動詞（know, want, like）は常に現在形を使います。
know, understand, believe, want, need, like, love, own, belong, seem など状態・感情・所有を表す動詞は通常進行形にせず、now があっても現在形を使います。
